Systems Engineering Services

Systems Engineering is a foundational skill for successful technology projects. It is the glue that connects ideas and missions to delivered results. Our team has the breadth and depth of experience to improve your project's results - throughout or anywhere in the lifecycle. We specialize in finding the right level of detail to get the job done while staying within the cost and schedule constraints of the project.

Our team has experience in satellite constellation mission engineering - from coverage analyses, data dissemination architectures, trade analyses, and requirements’ priorities with budget constraints.  We also have experience with software system engineering, satellite bus systems engineering including fault management analyses, and hardware systems engineering for satellite payloads and electronics. Specific experience includes:

  • Development of requirements and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Management of requirements and selloff / acceptance for subsystem contracts in DOORS and Jira
  • Fault management design support including FMEA and FDIR (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Fault Detection Incident Response)
  • Writing Recommended Operating Procedures (ROPs) for Ground Operations and technical reports. (Electrical power system, spacecraft timekeeping system, propulsion system, narrowband communications with ground station, on-board command and telemetry system)
  • AIT at the system level including vibe, acoustic, and TVAC (Thermal Vacuum) testing, anomaly resolution, and support to test engineering during shift work

Mission Engineering

Mission Engineering - where dreams become plans and requirement specifications. We are comfortable working from hand gestures and blank pages.  Our team has experience in satellite constellation mission engineering - from coverage analyses, data dissemination architectures, trade analyses, and requirements’ priorities with budget constraints.

Proposal Support

Systems Engineers are vital on proposals to help ensure 100% compliance with the proposal requirements. Especially for government proposals, compliance is the difference between it being reviewed and being administratively declined. We have the experience to analyze proposals, map out what is needed, and find innovative "path to compliance" solutions.

Govt Contract Startup

The Systems Engineering piece of contract startup is critical to ensuring a successful design phase. Our team leverages their extensive experience on multiple projects to evaluate specification trees, interface planning, supplier selection, establishing requirements databases and requirement management rules, and schedule planning throughout the program lifecycle to ensure the design phase is not putting too much pressure on AIT and V&V activities.

Design Phase

Our team can help lead your design review, mentor junior employees who are leading it, or help generate the artifacts needed! We have experience with design activities on large and small projects, government and internal. This includes SRR, PDR, and CDR activities for both space hardware and software projects. We work in leadership roles as well as developing requirement specifications, interface specifications, and DODAF views: OV-1, OV-3, OV-4, OV-5, and OV-6.

Assembly, Integration, and Test

Assembly, Integration, and Test - the phase of the project where the fate of your on-time delivery plan is decided! In this phase, Systems Engineers are not only tracking subsystem and system-level activities, but change control, test planning, and providing anomaly resolution support during testing. Our team can provide Systems Engineering expertise throughout the process or as expert review of artifacts, or support test activities. We have experience with spacecraft, optical payloads, ground systems, and software.

Verification & Validation

What sets us apart is the breadth and depth of our experience, derived from both the variety of technology and number of missions supported. The experience provides the perspective needed to focus on critical items by understanding common failure modes. Our team has extensive experience planning the V&V phase of testing from design reviews through execution for optical payloads, spacecraft bus, and satellite ground systems - on commercial and U.S. Government projects. We have experience with Thermal Vacuum testing as well as Software V&V.

Tech Transition: Prototype to
Operations

Developing the next cool capability for your customer is an amazing feat.  Taking it to the next level is always a challenge. Our team members have extensive experience with configuration control strategies in order to baseline a product and manage customized branches to that baseline. We are well practiced in the changes to space hardware requirements and processes needed to go from a prototype through First Article Testing and into production.

For satellite ground systems, we create trends of operational data and simulations of products and CONOPS prior to transition to operations because it is important to visualize what the requirements say to verify intent of operation.

Operations & Sustainment

We have extensive experience with large-scale operational satellite ground systems - including data centers, data dissemination systems, and mission data processing - and can help plan and manage your mission.

Our also team has experience with post-delivery support supporting customer integration and launch operations on optical payloads, space electronics, and spacecraft buses. We understand the system end to end - enabling effective anomaly resolution as well as developing Standard Operating Procedures for personnel.

Program Closeout - Govt Contracts

Program closeout can be a project unto itself - whether it is properly archiving design materials, ensuring closeout of anomaly reports, closing out the lingering open requirements, or dispositioning government property. Our team has experience with closeout on multiple projects and can help ensure needs are met at this vital stage where errors can cost profits.
